The Sleep Paradox

It’s something of a paradox.

Try as we might, we can’t directly control, force or will ourselves to sleep.  That tactic usually backfires as one becomes overly worried, tense, and even consumed by the thought of not sleeping.  A frontal assault just doesn’t work.

But what we can do is create conditions – both internal and external – that are conducive to sleep, and thereby control it indirectly.
